Driven by Latin Dance Nation’s vast background in Latin dance styles, Co founder Sarantos Zaloumis helped introduce zouk to South Australia in early 2009 with his partner Sam Olah. Since then the style has gained vast popularity amongst the South Australian dance circuit.
Learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Zouk from some of its pioneers he continues to study Zouk closely with artists such as Kadu Pires and Larissa Thayane from Rio Rhythmics dancing academy in Brisbane Australia – two of the most renowned Zouk dancers in the world, as well as Gaspar Ribeiro and Edelemar Pieternelle.
Working with highly respected zouk artists Sarantos and the team at Latin Dance Nation have developed a very unique dancing and teaching style. His particular style of teaching is based on the learning emphasizes on the fluidity of the dance. Not being limited only by the beat, his style emphasizes the song’s melody, that way it can be danced with zouk or with a variety of music genres. He also bases his learning theory on developing great movement improvement, like torsion steps and cambrets, also allowing for the men to learn how to lead with not only their hands and arms, but also with their legs, shoulders and head – involving the whole body while dancing.
Amongst the pioneers of zouk in South Australia Sarantos Zaloumis continues to make this beautiful dance more prominent.
