Sam Olah, co founder of Latin Dance Nation, helped introduce zouk to South Australia in early 2009 with the help of Gaspar Ribeiro and her partner Sarantos Zaloumis. She began dancing at the age of 7 and has immersed herself in the passion ever since. As co founder and senior dance instructor at Latin Dance Nation her approach and philosophy in teaching zouk is that of a holistic nature, encompassing the mind, body and spirit, in an attempt to master a dance that must, by its very nature, encompass all three.
Sam’s dedication to providing Adelaide with the best possible zouk experience has her travelling the world to learn the latest dance technique from world renowned instructors and dancers. Driven by her vast background in dance styles her passion for zouk is forever solidified by working closely with artists such as Kadu Pires and Larissa Thayane from Rio Rhythmics dancing academy in Brisbane Australia. She has also been instrumental in bringing many of these instructors and dancers to Adelaide.
She reflects her passion for zouk in her positive and encouraging classes where she emphasizes connecting harmoniously with one’s partner in graceful, clean steps while also dancing with the music. Her energy, sensuality and innovative form characterize her dance style, and she is able to capture an array of emotions through movement. Her students appreciate her clear explanations of technique that help them improve their movement and enjoy the spirit of the dance.
