Gilson Damasco

Gilson Damasco was the first instructor of lambada in Argentina in 1991. He was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was first introduced to the lambada 17 years ago. He has participated in many Lambada competitions in Brazil. He was greatly inspired by Kaoma¬¥s and Beto Barbosa¬¥s Dancers, who were largely responsible for the widespread success of the Lambada at that time. Delighted by the magic of Porto Seguro and sharing in the energy of the Bahian Culture and having contacted with the best Lambada teachers, in 1992 he opened up ÄúPorto Seguro Pub‚ Äù, which quickly became known as a meeting place for all Argentinian people. Then in 1995 he opened ÄúKaoma Bar‚Äù, while in 1996 he moved to ‚ÄúMaluco Beleza‚Äù, the most well-known Brazilian club in Argentina. In 1998, he brought teachers as Josy, Braz, Patricia, Didi, Patricia Moreno, Sonara, Donn, Bebe, Mauricio and Jamaica into the Buenos Aires community. All of whom have played a very important role due to their knowledge and positive energy, which is very characteristic of the Bahian culture, specially lambada. In 2004, he traveled to Europe for the first time to participate in the international Lambazouk congresses and venues (Spain, Holland, England, Switzerland …) and Israel. Among Gilson’s many skills as an insturctor are his ability to explain dance technique clearly and offer advice on the best way to lead a partner.
