This Saturday, May 22nd, 2010, is the 4th annual Dance Parade. I recently sat down with Greg Miller, the Parade’s Founder and Executive Director, to talk about his own involvement in dance, the personal epiphany that led to the creation of the largest annual dance event in New York City, and the Parade’s connection to the city’s controversial Cabaret Law.

But with the release of her upcoming new album, “Reloaded,” it would appear that is all about to change. In the two years we’ve been dancing in the Park many people have taken our photos and they always promise to send us copies, but they never do. You were the first. During the holiday season, Suzanna Lubrano, one of the largest Cape Verdean Zouk recording artists, was kind enough to take time out from her busy schedule to sit down with Zouk Nation and talk about her life growing up in Rotterdam, some of the challenges one faces in being a “multi-cultural artist,” and her thoughts on how new technologies are changing the recording industry.

For Zouk Nation’s first featured recording artist we were fortunate enough to have Eduardo Filizzola, the leader and originator of the Brazilian zouk group Banda Aixa, agree to be our first subject. Know that the following interview was conducted over the course of several days via email. During that time, he and I talked about his life, the motivating factor that finally made him take the leap to becoming a professional musician full time, and his ideas and feelings about his music.
